Coronavirus (COVID-19) UPDATE

We have moved to Telehealth only consults - this means that all initial consultations will be done via phone or video call. A face to face consultation can be organised, if deemed necessary after the initial clinical assessment done via tele-health.

 

Do not attend the Practice

Call us or book online. You will be instructed what to do next based on individual clinical assessment. This applies to all existing and new patients.

For COVID testing

 

If you fit the criteria for COVID-19 testing and have ;

- mild flu-like symptoms, review and lab testing can be organised through phone / tele-health consultation or via FEVER CLINIC at John Hunter Hospital

- if you feel unwell , high fever / shortness of breath you should present yourself to the Emergency department or call ambulance (000).

- if you have no flu like or respiratory symptoms  - a tele-health (video) or phone consultation can be organised with us first. A face to face consult will only be organised after clinical assessment by the doctor.

As a bulk billing practice*, we offer bulk billing to all patients holding a valid Medicare card. 

 

COVID-19 Update (29/03/2020) -  We are relieved that as per announcements made by government authorities most Telehealth consultation can be bulk billed from 30/03/2020. Thanks for your patience. If you a new patient or have not seen any doctor at our surgery in the last 3 years, you will be required to download; fill and email  us back the signed Patient Information Form before a Telehealth consultation can be initiated. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding during these difficult times. 

Update 19th March 2020 - Due to current circumstances with the coronavirus pandemic, we are making some difficult but important decisions to protect our staff and the more vulnerable in our community. We will be doing more stringent triaging and ensuring patients meet criteria for face to face consult.  We aim to work together with the community to get through this hardship.

*Please note some services may not be covered by Medicare - please check with our reception staff before booking appointment

Medicare criteria for bulk billing phone / tele-health consults- (reproduced from MBS online 19/3/2020 12:00 pm)

Vulnerable/isolated patients are those where at least one of the following apply:
(a) the person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 virus but who is not a patient of a hospital; or
(b) the person has been required to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC); or
(c) the person is considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus being a person who is:

      • (i) at least 70 years old; or
        (ii) at least 50 years old and is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
        (iii) is pregnant; or
        (iv) is a parent of a child under 12 months; or
        (v) is already under treatment for chronic health conditions or is immune compromised; or

(d) the person meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection.

Please be advised that there is a cancellation fee of $50, if you do not provide us with a 2 hr notice period. 

 

We are centrally located with plenty of onsite parking, right across from IGA and two doors to Chemist works, with other shops and cafes nearby. There is also a selection of pathology and radiology centres in the area, should they be needed.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am till 5:30pm. We are ideally located for residents of Boolaroo, and surrounding suburbs, including Speers point, Teralba, Booragul,  Woodrising, Argenton, Marmong point, Blackalls Park, Lakelands, Warners Bay, Cardiff and Glendale.
